UNDERMOUNT | OVERMOUNT | FLUSHMOUNT
Choosing how to mount your kitchen sink is always a difficult decision. There are three common ways to mount your sink;
1. Undrmount
2. Over/Inset mount
3. Flushmount
Is the most popular way to mount your kitchen sink. An Undermount sink gives a clean, seamless look to your kitchen bench.
Pros | Cons |
- Seamless Look - Easy to clean your benchtop |
- Mould in the silicone between sink and benchtop - Stone can chip on impact of pots, pans etc. |
Overmount or inset mounting is when the sink is dropped in and sits on top of your chosen benchtop. This is the most cost effective and easiest to change sink installation
Pros | Cons |
- Easy to change your sink if you need to - Cost effective installation - Protection from damage that can be caused by pots etc. |
- Food debris can get stuck between the lip of the sink and benchtop - Some sinks are quite thick so its very noticeable. (All Artinox sinks are only 1mm thick so this isn't an issue) - You will have the 20mm Stainless steel boarder around the sink |
Flushmount is when your stonemason/ benchtop installer uses a router to cut away at the stone so your sink lip is inline with your benchtop. Creating a seamless line between your sink an bench
Pros | Cons |
- Easy to clean - Seamless design - Protection from damage that can be caused by pots etc. |
- More expensive installation - You are unable to flush mount with some bench tops eg. Porcelain
